laksa paste

- 6 large red chillies seeds removed and chopped
- 2 teaspoons dried shrimp paste*
- ⅓ cup dried prawns (shrimp)
- 2 onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 stalks lemongrass, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground tumeric
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- Place all the ingredients in a small food processor or blender and process until smooth. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. Makes ½ cup.
* Dried shrimp paste is available from Asian grocers.
